Mysterious Women

This is another example of happenstance. I play percussion in the local orchestra. Once a year, its members collect old paper in the village and sell it to fund the orchestra. While picking the paper packs, I discovered two bundles with drawings and brought them home. They turned out to be old sketches of women’s portraits without any signature.

Judging from the clothing, the artist must have lived in the first part of the last century. Since I saved them from a death by shredding, I allowed myself to enter into a dialog with them. I enriched the unfinished drawings with collages. The ladies came to have a new life and another series was born. Who was the artist? Would he / she agree with my interventions? Would the ladies be exibited someday, somewhere? We'll see... they are here waiting to be brought to light again.
